Thank you for smoking was a movie that had split reviews however it didn't show many characteristics of a good movie. The film was very slow and did not have any action scenes but one. Michael Kennedy wrote a review on screen rant explaining how it was a drama and not a comedy. “Unlike many of the other films that have made the jump to TV — such as The Exorcist, Lethal Weapon, and PsychoThank You For Smoking was actually not too big a hit financially”. (Kennedy) I agree with Mr. Kennedy because this film doesn't qualify as a comedy because it only had one scene that made me laugh. it also considered a comedy because it was never set in a comedy movie atmosphere. This movie is more of a drama because it kept making the main character “Nick” be put in situations where he had to get through this obstacle to get to the next which is common among drama movies. This movie also had a set plot that “Nick” had to follow. when the movie started he knew where and what he had to go through to get to the end of the movie where comedies are usually a mindless adventure and had several irrelevant scenes that are there just to make you laugh.
